I love to knit socks! If someone said I could only knit one type of thing the rest of my life — I’d pick socks. They are one of my favorite projects.
I have never participated in a KAL, but I’m in on this one! KnittingSarah just announced a SOCK Knit Along! She is starting with the Churchmouse Yarn and Tea Basic Sock Pattern. But the rules are very flexible with the goal of incorporating sock knitting into one’s routine. The only caveat is to knit on socks every day. I love the Churchmouse basic pattern, but I think I’ll start with a pattern and yarn that I purchased last May and have been chomping at the bit to get on my needles — Bunting by Lisa Richardson in “Rowan Fine Art Collection.” I’ll be using Rowan Fine Art hand painted sock yarn in a variegated mocha/rose combination called “Tawny.” http://www.knitrowan.com/yarns/fine-art#
. I’ll use size 0 double point needles. I’ll cast on on January 15th (that’s when it starts) and work on the socks each day, even though some days it may be for only a few minutes! Socks Rock!
Naturally, these socks will have lots of company with my other WIP! (I tried all day to upload photos, but couldn’t get them on!! ugh!) You can see them on my Ravelry page.
Of course, come the February Sweater Challenge at Apple Yarns, many of these projects will hibernate for 28 days, but I will work on socks for a bit each day! Sock On!
